Welcome!

Welcome to our website. Thank you for showing interest in our school.

We are privileged to educate over 260 pupils aged 2 to 7, as we build upon our long tradition of excellence at our amazing school.

Our nursery can take children from the age of two years. We offer mornings or afternoons and we have some children who stay for the full school day.

We are a three-form entry school. We can take up to 90 children in reception across three classes.

The Minster Nursery and Infant School is a Church of England Academy within the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education Multi-Academy Trust (SDBE MAT). We have Collective Worship every day. We teach Bible stories form the old and new testaments. We also teach about other faiths. We love hearing from our children about their festivals and celebrations from Easter to Eid, from Passover to Pentecost. If your faith is important to you, it is important to us. We teach respect for other peoples’ views and beliefs with an understanding that it is acceptable to disagree and believe in different things. We provide a safe space for your child to talk through ideas, secure in the knowledge that they will not be judged and that they will encounter unconditional positive regard from the authentic adults around them.

Because we know that successful, high-performing organisational cultures are not accidental, we measure everything we do against the three key elements of our core framework:

  1. Does it align with our values; Determination, Honour, Believe?
  2. Does it match up to our mission: School of Inspiration?
  3. Are we ‘Preparing for a bright future with innovative and exciting learning’?

We hope you will want your child to come to one of the best schools in Croydon where we regard each child as a unique and special human being with potential to achieve the very best in all areas of their learning. We are passionate and determined to do everything to ensure the brightest futures for them all, not just for the time that your child is with us, but to prepare him/her to make the best choices long after they leave us.

When your child walks through our gates, they are guaranteed a warm welcome and a day packed full of exciting and inspirational learning. Through our Heaven to Earth curriculum, your child will learn through play, have opportunities to find solutions, develop their thinking, make friends and develop social skills to become motivated, curious, happy and successful learners who are exceptionally well-prepared for their next phase of learning. We have designed our Heaven to Earth curriculum to be flexible enough to provide appropriate levels of challenge for every child, whilst also remaining sympathetic to what we know about the stages of child development.

We know that great learning takes place within great, affirming relationships.

We are delighted with our achievements over recent times. We had our Section 48 Inspection; Statutory inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) in July and were judged Outstanding in all four core questions .

Our very low turnover of staff shows the dedication of our great team and in turn we are able to attract dedicated newly qualified teachers who bring a fresh outlook to grow and develop in our collegiate and nurturing school.

In that respect, we have a Family Liaison Officer who is available to help families with additional support when necessary. We understand that your child is not a stand-alone unit, but part of a unique family with its own ups and downs.

In January 2019, our school was graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted. Inspectors recognised that leaders promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development extremely well. ‘Pupils say that they feel safe in school; parents and inspectors agree’ (inspection report, 23-24 January 2019). Phonics is taught well, the teaching of reading across the school is good, progression in writing is evident in pupils’ workbooks and effective teaching in mathematics enables pupils to have a good understanding of the subject and make strong progress to achieve well. Our Teaching Assistants support pupils well; they are skilled and make a strong contribution to learning.

Inspectors also noted that pupils are respectful towards each other and adults. As a result, a caring and nurturing environment exists within the school. There are high expectations of behaviour which is modelled excellently by all adults in the school.

We place high value on relationships to honour one another as though we, each of us, are children of God. We ensure that every one is valued and celebrated regardless of race, gender, age, disability, religion or socio-economic background.

If you are a prospective parent, I hope you will come to see our beautiful school (and the amazing people in it!) on one of our tours. Please take a few minutes to watch the short videos which will give you a deeper understanding of our school.

I wish you every blessing as you make such an important decision about which school to send your child.
